Team Story

DragonBoat Z season 1 started in Dubuque Iowa in 2023 when a group of friends decided they needed a new adventure. Not just any old adventure, but one where they could have a trial to overcome making them grow stronger while having a great time.
Two of these friends thought back fondly on an activity they partook in while their children were in the local Boy Scout troop 94. This was where DragonBoat Z started.

It has continued every year since then, often with new characters joining in the fight to become stronger on the water and to have the most fun possible.

DragonBoat Z is about challenging yourself, making connections with new people and having more fun than any other team at the Dragon Boat Festival!

Captain & Co-Captain

Meet the crew members who help keep DragonBoat Z paddling, laughing, and ready for the next adventure.

Kaio Captain Captain Teresa Green

Teresa Green

My dragon boat journey began years ago as a Scout mom when Troop 94 formed a "Paddling Parents" team. I only raced a couple of times, but I never forgot the energy, teamwork, and fun of the festival. When friends suggested starting our own team in 2023, I jumped at the chance. I helped recruit our original crew, and DragonBoat Z was born, complete with comic convention costumes and a sign that read, "Wait... this isn't Comic-Con?" It perfectly captured who we are: a team that loves to compete, laugh, and build community. As members have come and gone over the years, I've been grateful to serve as captain and help keep that spirit alive. Off the water, I'm an instructor at Northeast Iowa Community College, an improv performer, volunteer, theater enthusiast, board game fan, and proud mom of three adult children.

Co-Captain Ginyu Co-Captain Stephen Green

Stephen Green

Stephen has been part of Dragon Boat Z since episode 1. He got involved in Dragon Boating as a way to challenge himself, spend time with old friends and make new ones. When not paddling he spends his time doing theater and spending time with his friends and family. Whether it's your first time paddling or you are a reoccurring character he is excited you are part of the team and looks forward to an amazing weekend of fun and maybe even some shenanigans.
